How important of Know How???

Company send me to test TOEIC in order to measure my English skill.
This project has been run up first time in 2006.
I have no problem with this test since I beleive that it should be fine with me if I can understand foreigner speaking English and I also can write project proposal in English. So I didn’t prepare myself and take the exam with confident.
For the listening part, I mark the answer without hesitate.
For the reading part, I read message sentence by sentence and read the group of questions and answer it one by one easily.
However, time’s never wait. Time’s up and I didn’t complete 40 questions on reading part!!
The result score in 2006 is 430 on listening part and 255 in reading part. Luckily, the minimum standard for my company is 650 but I got total score at 685.
This year, my company send me to test TOEIC again. This time I know already what is the pattern of the exam.
I just plan my testing strategy before going to the examination without reading or preparing, just planning how I will approaching the exam.
My strategy is to read the question and answer before the listening question part be started.
I do the same approach on the reading part, looking at the question and answers. Then searching for the answer from reading message.
This time I can complete all the questions before time.
The result score in 2009 is 480 on listening part and 405 in reading part. My total score is 885.
I gain additional 200 marks because of I Know How to approach the exam.
Stragegic Thinking

When you cannot catch up with world speed.

Last Sunday, I have been asked to taking care my grand mom.
It is easy job, just sit with her, talk with her and find something for her to eat when she hungry.
I think I would be nice if I bring many DVDs and watching together with her.
I’m enjoy my movies but she seems to be lost in space. She found that it is not fun and keep looking outside the door waiting for familiar faces to come back.
She keeps looking and asking questions from time to time when they gonna back.
Anyway, I can draw her interest by asking her telling her story and let her flash back to her impression events in the past.
At last, my brother comes back from his concert around 8:30pm at night and I ask her to take shower and go for sleep.
Then I walk back home.
When I walk back I keep thinking what can attract her attention and what can entertain her from boredom feeling.
She doesn’t seems fun when she watch movie because the story now is too complicate for her to understand.
She will not enjoy playing game or listening to music because both of these activities need to involve with high tech device which too complicated for her.
She will not appreciate with my experience sharing that I shared to her because she cannot catch up with lifestyle.
She cannot cook which she can do best since she doesn’t strong enough to shop at wet market for ingredients and her eyes are not as good as before.
All of the above cause from missing to catch up with the speed of the world.
I feel depress when thinking of her and looking back to myself and my wife.
These situation may haunted me when I’m getting old. It does not a joke. Although, I’m working in IT field. It doesn’t guarantee that I can catch up with the world speed in the future. Who know? In the future at my grand son generation, they may control all devices with bio-electric sensors which need to learn from school or all instructions, user manual coding in genetic 4th based language.
The only way to survive is to catch up with the speed of the world. I think I can if I try. But my wife, I quite worried. If I die before her, she will fall in the the same cycle with my grand mom.

New Year 2009, we want something new

New Year is quite the same every year, we avoid travelling upcountry or abroad to avoid crowded. We went to have dinner with family.
We having dinner with on 31/12/08 with my relative side. On 1/1/09, we went to having dinner with my wife side.
But this year, I think we should have something new. I always feel that I will be lucky in 2009 at least in my mind.
If you can feel like this since the beginning of the year, you will be lucky for sure. Everything will drive from your heart.
I plan to buy my wife a new car since she use Altis for more than 6 years.
I think a lot to choose between Accord, Camry, Wish, Captiva, Teana and CR-V which are all in the same price range.
Accord -> interia design does not catch me.
Camry -> interia almost same style like new Altis that I drive
Wish -> heard about noise suppression and suspension issue
Captiva -> ugly interia design
CR-V -> Suspension issue
Teana -> looking better among all but old body.
Wait a minute, I see from the internet that Nissan gonna launch new body in Q1’09.
Perfect timing for us, very beautiful like picture below but my wife didn’t see it yet.
I already told her that I already make decision to buy it. We want something new.
Note: at the end, I didn’t buy it since my wife choose Toyota Wish instead. She wants family car that children can watch cartoon from TV at back seat.

ตอนเด็กๆ เคยลองทำการทดลองทางวิทยาศาสตร์กันไม๊
เลี้ยงผลึกสารส้มไง สนุกมากเลยนะ
ยังจำได้เลยว่าแข่งกันเลี้ยงกับญาติๆ และพี่น้อง
ต้มน้ำให้เดือด แล้วก็เอาสารส้มละลายลงไปจนมันละลายต่อไม่ได้
จากนั้นก็เอาเส้นได้ห้อยจุ่มไปกลางภาชนะ พอตกเช้าก็มาดูว่าใครได้ผลึกก้อนใหญ่กว่ากัน
ที่สารส้มตกผลึกก็เพราะ น้ำเย็นลงและความสามารถในการทำละลายลดลง
เคยนึกบ้างไม๊ว่าร่างกายเราก็เต็มไปด้วยสารละลาย แล้วก็เต็มไปด้วยน้ำ
จะเกิดอะไรขึ้นถ้าความสามารถในการทำละลายภายในร่างกายเริ่มลดลง?

MBA: Financial management (nightmare from the past)

Did you know that I got ‘F’ for Financial management in BBA? It still stick in my mind for long.
In the old day, I didn’t understand a bit about this subject. I also don’t know the different between finance and accounting. Now I realized that it because I don’t know what is it application (how to apply it?).
Until I started to learn and interested in stock exchange. I found that FM will help a lot on my investment decision if I understand this.
I count the day to study this subject and also would like to get rid off my nightmare
I passion to know it so much until I decided to cancel free trip to Beijing to attend the class.
My strong wills never disappointed me, I got A grade for this subject.
When you are still young as new jobber, you will hardly realize how important of financial and how to apply to your job (especial in IT field, it looks like financial is another edge of the world from IT). But when you become manager level, you will know that every activity and application must contribute back to business objective. Financial ratio will be used to measure business success, shaping business strategy and telling us which area should be improved.

Happy Birthday Geno

November 2008: Yesterday was Geno Birthday. In fact, we already celebrated his birthday since Sunday because no one can come back early on Monday.
He got 2 cakes on Sunday. The first one we bought and celebrated within our family in the morning.
The second one, Tuck bought it for him to celebrate at Mom’s home in the evening.
The funny thing is that he got sleep talk since Saturday night singing birthday song and blew the candle in his dream.
It can’t believe that 2 years old boy knowing about his own birthday and sleep talk.
Anyway, he did very good blow on Sunday. He took down 2 candle lights within one blow.
He tried to do the same on the second cake in the evening but he blow into wrong direction. Very funny.
Happy Birthday Geno, this event will be your good memory for long.
