I just came back from a short trip to Nakorn Rachsrima province during weekend. We plan for this trip 2 week ago. In fact, our family was looking for short trip that not far from Bangkok in driving distance of 2 – 3 hours. We were searching for something different from our previous weekend trip, new experience and new atmosphere. Finally, we end up with 2 places in the short list. One was proposed by me which is the hotel in the cowboy town style and another one was proposed by my wife, the boutique camping.

OK, we compared both website and we both agreed that cowboy town may not good for our kid since most of the activities and facilities are not design for 2 years old kid. So we decided to focus on the boutique camping which give us impression since we visited their website at www.farmchokchai.com

I booked for the boutique camping for 2 persons (me and my wife, free for 2 yrs kid). The boutique camping is in tent style with air conditioner. They charge us per person at 3700++, total will be around 4000B per person. It is quite expensive if you compare to staying in 5 star hotel since it is around 8000B for my family. For me, the price is worth for the atmosphere and activities which you may not find in any other places.

Here I started the program by driving from home to Chokchai farm around 200Kms. I left my home around 9:00am and reached there around 11:00am. Other groups were already there and we started having lunch which already include in the package. After lunch the wagon train brought us to the souvenir shop, somebody may love this activity but I hate it a lot since they left us for 2 hours there in order to wait for outsiders who would like to join program. This part of program called ‘The Agro tour’. It is also open for public who can join the program by paying 250B/person. Theme of Agro tour is to show the audience to understand farm business cycle start from artificial insemination, milk, homogenize, pasteurize and also make ice cream. Other than farm business cycle showcase, there are also animal and cowboy show as well.

After the Agro tour, camping members separate from the public to continue ice-cream workshop. This workshop will give you depth experience in making ice-cream which you can select the flavor and decorate ice-cream by yourself. This activity inspired me to open my own ice-cream shop.

 6:00pm, we checked in to our camp. It’s quite comfortable like hotel room although it is in tent style. Some groups start the next activity to drive ATV car into the corn field which is the last program before dinner. For me, I passed this one since my wife is still pregnant and need to take care for my son.

Here come to the best part of the program, superb dinner! It is BBQ buffet, mix grilled and roasted chicken. Sound like normal but the taste is fantastic!! After finish my dinner, it is time to take a bath. My god! Bathroom and toilet are so bautiful, good decoration and open air to see the garden. Cool weather at night with the rabbits jumping around your camp, it make me have a good night dream.

Next morning, the  last activity before we go back home is morning walk up to the private hill and having breakfast in the Lucy grass field. Then we go back to the camp to pack all luggage. The weather starts to become hot after 9:30am. So we decide to leave the camp earlier and back to our home.
